In the heart of Celaya stands an architectural jewel: the majestic Templo del Carmen.
A A masterpiece by the talented architect Francisco Eduardo Tresguerras, its imposing Neoclassical façade, characterized by its central tower, is just the beginning. Upon entering, you’ll discover the frescoes painted by Tresguerras himself inside the Chapel of the Brotherhoods.
The first Carmelite convent dates back to the 16th century, followed by a second construction in the 17th century, which burned down in 1802. Tresguerras built the current temple between 1802 and 1807.
